Job Title: Data Steward – Deposits
Location: Tysons, VA (Hybrid)
Type: 6+ Months
Job Summary
Our Client, a fortune 500 company, is seeking a Data Steward to support the Deposits business by ensuring the quality, consistency, and integrity of data coming through Snowflake and related systems. This role is a mix of light project management, business analysis, and data stewardship, requiring the ability to pull and evaluate data, identify and escalate issues, and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve them.
We're looking for someone with a background in banking/financial data, who understands the regulatory environment and can work independently to help clean, validate, and govern deposit-related data.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and maintain the quality of deposits data flowing through Snowflake.
• Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or issues—whether found personally or reported by others—and track them through resolution.
• Collaborate with the Snowflake/data engineering team and other stakeholders to understand source data, validate fields, and implement fixes.
• Assist in defining and documenting data definitions, standards, and rules for the Deposits domain.
• Pull and analyze simple data sets from Snowflake to validate assumptions and track anomalies.
• Maintain and improve documentation, including data dictionaries, glossaries, and process guides.
• Escalate unresolved issues, follow up with responsible teams, and ensure timely resolution.
• Serve as a key point of contact for questions related to deposit data structure, quality, and lineage.
Qualifications
• 2–3 years of experience in data stewardship, governance, or data quality roles, preferably in financial services.
• Familiarity with Snowflake or similar modern cloud data platforms.
• Ability to pull and interpret data using SQL or basic querying tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills—comfortable tracking tasks, following up, and working cross-functionally.
• Background in banking, credit unions, or financial regulations (e.g., GLBA, NCUA) is a strong plus.
• Not a traditional project manager or business analyst—but someone who can operate in both worlds to keep work moving and data clean.
• Must be able to learn quickly, explain data logic, and help others adopt data best practices.
