ποΈ Who Are We?
BearPeak is a boutique software engineering consultancy headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. We work with startups and mid-sized businesses across the country to build exceptional technology products - the kind that work well, scale smartly, and leave no data unturned.
Our team is distributed, passionate, and pragmatic. We lean on deep expertise, a strong sense of ownership, and a culture that values craftsmanship and clear thinking.
π¦ Who Are You?
You are a Data Unicorn - equal parts Data Engineer, Data Analyst, and Data Scientist. You donβt just build the pipelines, you understand the why behind the data. Youβre as comfortable modeling schemas and wrangling ETL as you are running exploratory analyses or helping validate a business hypothesis.
You believe that clean, structured, accessible data isnβt just a nice-to-have ... itβs the foundation of every good product and every sound decision.
πΌ What Youβll Be Doing
β’ Designing and implementing modern data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to support operational, analytical, and reporting needs.
β’ Structuring and administering relational and cloud-native data platforms (think βdata lakeβ and βlakehouseβ).
β’ Building curated datasets and business-friendly data marts for self-serve analytics.
β’ Collaborating with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and helping shape data strategies that align with business goals.
β’ Partnering with engineers and data scientists to define and maintain clean, versioned, and tested datasets.
β’ Building dashboards and/or running ad hoc analyses to help answer key business questions.
β’ Championing data governance, documentation, and long-term maintainability.
β’ Staying current with modern data tooling, practices, and approaches and bringing that wisdom to the table.
π§° Requirements
β’ Minimum, 5 years of professional experience in data engineering / analytics / science roles.
β’ Solid command of SQL, Python, and modern data stacks (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar).
β’ Experience with modern ETL/ELT design patterns, data modeling (Kimball, Star Schema, etc.), and data warehousing.
β’ Bonus points for experience in:
β’ Cloud data platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
β’ BI tooling (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Metabase)
β’ ML/DS toolkits (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn)
β’ Excellent communication skills especially when distilling technical complexity for non-technical audiences.
β’ Strong instincts around data quality, reproducibility, and system design.
β’ A self-starter mindset and the maturity to own outcomes.
β’ Comfortable with AI, and leveraging it responsibly.
π‘ Why Work with Us?
