Role description
We are supporting a leading technology organization in their search for a Database Developer with strong experience in SQL development, Azure environments, and Power BI reporting. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex datasets, optimize queries, and design meaningful dashboards that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise not only in data development but also in Azure AD administration and database permissioning, ensuring secure and scalable access controls across the environment.
Responsibilities
β’ Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes.
β’ Scrub, clean, and validate large datasets within Azure SQL / Synapse environments.
β’ Configure and manage role-based access controls, permissions, and administrative settings in Azure AD and database systems.
β’ Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports, including advanced DAX measures and workflow-driven visualizations.
β’ Partner with engineering and business teams to provide data insights and support decision-making.
β’ Apply principles of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) in data modeling and reporting structures.
β’ Maintain best practices for data security, governance, and compliance.
Qualifications
β’ SQL expertise: proven experience writing queries, optimizing performance, and working with execution plans.
β’ Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Azure AD integration, and database permissioning/administrative controls.
β’ Strong skills in Power BI: building dashboards, creating DAX calculations, and visualizing workflows.
β’ Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipelines (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar).
β’ Knowledge of role-based security and least-privilege access in cloud database environments.
β’ Bonus: exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) in BI/data modeling contexts.
β’ Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
β’ Curious and eager to learn β comfortable admitting βI donβt know yetβ and finding solutions.
