Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Cassandra Database Engineer position. This position is a 6+ month contract opportunity that will be on-site in Austin, TX.

β’ Ability to work in a hybrid environment (3 days onsite - M, W, Th and 2 days remote - Tu, Fr).
Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable Cassandra database systems. This role involves both engineering and administration responsibilities to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, implement, and maintain Apache Cassandra databases in production environments.
β’ Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries for efficiency.
β’ Manage cluster configuration, replication, and scaling to meet application demands.
β’ Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
β’ Collaborate with development teams to design data models and support application requirements.
β’ Implement security best practices for database access and data protection.
β’ Participate in database upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance tasks.
β’ Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for internal use.
Qualifications:
β’ Minimum of 8+ years of database engineering/administration experience and a High School Diploma.
β’ Experience with Apache Cassandra, including cluster setup, maintenance, and optimization.
β’ Strong understanding of data modeling, distributed databases, and performance tuning.
β’ Preferred: B.S. in Computer Science or related field.
