Title: Database Engineer Job Type: Contract (W2 Only) Contract Length: 6 months Pay Range: $75 - $80/hr Start Date: ASAP Location: Onsite - Foster City, CA About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in Automotive Technology, is looking for a skilled Database Engineer to join their team for a 6 months engagement. This project involves designing, building, and operating scalable, secure data stores that power their applications and analytics, using AWS and infrastructure-as-code. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include: β€’ Design and develop efficient, scalable database solutions aligned to business requirements. β€’ Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tooling. β€’ Monitor performance and optimize queries, indexes, and schemas for reliability and speed. β€’ Implement and maintain database security controls to protect sensitive data. β€’ Manage and support AWS database infrastructure (e.g., RDS/Aurora/Redshift). Required Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have: β€’ Proven experience as a Database Engineer/DBA. β€’ Deep expertise in DBMSs (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Redshift). This isn't a learning roleβ€”you need to be a subject matter expert. β€’ Strong understanding of AWS and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database resources. β€’ Proficiency in SQL and query optimization, and a solid grasp of data modeling, normalization, and schema design principles. β€’ Hands-on experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and understanding of backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures. β€’ Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals. β€’ Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to collaborate with application developers on schema designs and SQL. W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
