Role description
We are a specialist Data & AI recruitment consultancy and we are currently representing a boutique Data & AI consulting firm on an exciting contract requirement. Our client is a boutique Data & AI consultancy working exclusively in this space. They are known for taking on complex, high-impact data platform challenges and for the quality of the specialists they bring in to deliver them. As a contractor, you will work on meaningful engagements where your contribution is genuinely valued, with direct access to senior people and a collaborative team culture.
About the Role
The role is a blended role spanning both delivery and advisory. On the delivery side, you will own the architecture and hands-on build of Databricks solutions from initial design through to production go-live. On the advisory side, you will act as a trusted technical authority to end client leadership, helping shape data strategy, platform direction, and technology decisions.
Responsibilities
• Architecting and delivering end-to-end Databricks solutions across Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow
• Advising end client leadership on data platform strategy, best practices, and roadmap decisions
• Leading technical discovery workshops and translating requirements into detailed solution designs
• Collaborating with and mentoring data engineering teams, providing technical guidance and delivery governance
• Driving integration with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and adjacent tooling such as dbt, Airflow, and Terraform
• Ensuring delivery quality, milestone adherence, and a best-practice approach to data architecture and engineering standards
Required Skills
• The confidence and credibility to advise senior stakeholders on data strategy and architecture decisions
• Deep expertise in Databricks (Spark, Python/PySpark), and modern data engineering patterns (Medallion architecture, streaming, etc.)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present confidently to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders
• A self-starter mindset and the ability to own engagements end to end in a fast-moving contract environment
Preferred Skills
• Databricks Certified Associate Data Engineer certification is strongly preferred. Candidates who hold this credential will be prioritised in our shortlisting process.
Candidates must be based in the United States
