Job Title: Engineer Software 3
Job Description
This role supports EA-18G programs by developing and maintaining embedded real-time software for the Growler Block 1 and Growler Block 2 platforms. You will work as part of a collaborative software team, contributing across the full software development life cycle in a highly technical defense environment. The position is primarily on-site at Naval Air Warfare Center Point Mugu and an associated engineering office, where you will work closely with cross-functional teams and customer stakeholders.
Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain embedded real-time system software for EA-18G Growler Block 1 and Block 2 programs.
β’ Work in an Agile environment as an active member of a scrum team, participating in planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
β’ Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system defects, ensuring stability, performance, and reliability of delivered solutions.
β’ Collaborate closely with customer representatives, internal engineering sites, and multidisciplinary teams to clarify requirements and align technical solutions.
β’ Participate in and contribute to peer code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and compliance with project standards.
β’ Support and present at critical milestone reviews and technical interchange meetings, clearly communicating technical status, risks, and design decisions.
β’ Use project-specific tools such as Rational ClearCase, ClearQuest, DOORS, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence to manage requirements, configuration, and workflow.
β’ Implement software using higher-order languages such as C, C++, C#, and Python, following object-oriented design principles where applicable.
β’ Develop and debug software on Green Hills Integrity RTOS as well as Windows and Linux environments.
β’ Contribute to full software life cycle activities on large-scale, formal Department of Defense programs, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, test, and maintenance.
β’ Support Electronic Warfare system development and design tasks by implementing and integrating software components that meet system performance and interface requirements.
Essential Skills
β’ Bachelorβs degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 5β10 years of relevant experience, or a Masterβs degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience.
β’ Hands-on experience developing software in at least one higher-order programming language such as C, C++, or C#.
β’ Solid knowledge of object-oriented software development principles and their practical application.
β’ Experience with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or ClearCase for source code management and collaboration.
β’ Ability to function effectively as a member of an integrated, cross-functional engineering team.
β’ Experience working across the full software development life cycle on large-scale, formal Department of Defense programs.
β’ Experience developing real-time embedded software, including debugging and performance optimization in constrained environments.
β’ Experience working in an Agile development environment, contributing to iterative planning and delivery.
β’ Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Active or interim DoD Secret Clearance or higher, with eligibility to maintain such clearance.
β’ United States citizenship.

You will develop and test software targeting Green Hills Integrity RTOS, as well as Windows and Linux platforms, using standard engineering workstations and secure lab environments.
