Role description
Job Title: Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) Delivery Lead Location: Hybrid 2 days onsite/week (Cambridge/ Peterborough) Type: Contract Overview We are seeking an experienced Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) Delivery Lead to drive the development and execution of a large-scale Zero Trust transformation programme within a complex, global enterprise environment. This role will be responsible for defining the Zero Trust strategy, owning the target-state architecture, developing a scalable implementation blueprint, and leading delivery across multiple business units operating within a federated technology landscape. The successful candidate will combine strong cyber security expertise with enterprise architecture knowledge, programme leadership experience, and exceptional stakeholder management skills. Key Responsibilities Zero Trust Strategy & Roadmap • Define and lead the enterprise-wide Zero Trust strategy aligned to business and cyber security objectives. • Develop a multi-year roadmap covering identity, device, network, application, and data security domains. • Establish adoption priorities, milestones, dependencies, and success measures. • Present recommendations and secure executive-level approval and sponsorship.Architecture & Blueprint Development • Own and maintain the target-state Zero Trust architecture. • Develop scalable reference architectures, implementation standards, governance models, and security controls. • Ensure alignment between Zero Trust principles and wider cyber security and technology strategies. • Continuously enhance architectural standards based on emerging requirements, lessons learned, and technology developments.Programme Delivery • Lead end-to-end delivery of the Zero Trust workstream from strategy through implementation and operational handover. • Define programme scope, outcomes, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies. • Establish governance structures and deliver regular executive reporting. • Manage third-party vendors and delivery partners, ensuring performance against agreed outcomes.Stakeholder Engagement & Adoption • Work closely with security, architecture, infrastructure, and technology teams to drive successful implementation. • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple business units. • Influence decision-making at executive level and drive alignment across competing priorities. • Support change management, communications, and business adoption activities.Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with Identity, Security Engineering, Architecture, and Technology teams to ensure successful delivery. • Manage dependencies across identity transformation, endpoint security, cloud security, network modernisation, and workplace transformation initiatives. • Ensure a coordinated approach across all related programmes and workstreams.Essential Experience • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale Zero Trust transformation programmes. • Demonstrated success defining and delivering Zero Trust strategies, architectures, and implementation roadmaps. • Experience leading complex cyber security or technology programmes across global organisations. • Strong track record of managing budgets, vendors, governance frameworks, and delivery teams. • Experience influencing executive stakeholders and steering committees. • Previous experience operating within federated or decentralised organisational environments.Essential Technical Expertise Strong understanding of: • Zero Trust Architecture • Identity and Access Management • Conditional Access • Privileged Access Management • Endpoint Security • Device Compliance • ZTNA and Secure Access technologies • Cloud Security Architecture • Enterprise Security GovernanceStrong knowledge of technologies such as: • Microsoft Entra ID • Conditional Access • Privileged Identity Management (PIM) • Microsoft Defender Suite • Microsoft Intune • Zscaler or equivalent ZTNA platformsQualifications Essential • Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience. • One or more of the following certifications: • CISSP • CISM • TOGAF • SABSA • Microsoft SC-100Desirable • PRINCE2 Practitioner • MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) • SABSA Chartered Security Architect • Membership of ISACA, (ISC)², CIISec, or BCSKey Attributes • Strategic thinker with strong delivery focus. • Excellent executive stakeholder management and communication skills. • Ability to translate complex security concepts into practical business outcomes. • Strong programme governance and organisational skills. • Comfortable operating in complex, global environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. • Ability to balance architectural integrity with pragmatic delivery requirements.Must-Have Profile • Led a Zero Trust programme from strategy through implementation. • Strong Microsoft Security ecosystem experience (Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune, Defender). • Experience with Zscaler or equivalent ZTNA technologies. • Enterprise architecture and roadmap ownership experience. • Large-scale cyber transformation delivery background. • Executive-level stakeholder engagement experience. • Experience driving adoption across multiple business units or divisions.
