Role description
Hybrid Details: Greensboro, NC / Charlotte, NC or Radnor, PA Hybrid Onsite/Remote Duration: 6 months to start Job Description β€’ We are seeking an experienced DevOps Contractor to assist in migrating Docker-based applications to Kubernetes, utilizing Helm charts for streamlined and repeatable deployments. β€’ This is a hands-on, engagement ideal for someone who can jump in quickly and deliver production-ready Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Analyze existing Dockerfiles, Docker-compose files, application architecture, and environment requirements. β€’ Design and implement Helm chart templates for developers and help them to deploy containerized applications to multiple Kubernetes clusters. β€’ Package Docker-based applications into fully deployable Kubernetes manifests (Deployment, Service, ConfigMap, Secret, etc.). β€’ Ensure proper configuration, scaling, and health checks in Kubernetes specs. β€’ Optimize image builds and container runtime configuration. β€’ Work with internal teams to validate deployments and support integration. β€’ Document the deployment process and provide handover to internal DevOps teams. Required Skills & Experience: β€’ Strong hands-on experience with: β€’ Docker (image creation, optimization, tagging, publishing) β€’ Docker Swarm (Docker Swarm Stack, Docker Service, Docker Network, Docker Secret) β€’ Kubernetes (Deployment, Service, Ingress, ConfigMap, Secret) β€’ Helm 3 (chart creation, templating, versioning) β€’ Ability to convert Docker-based applications to Kubernetes-ready deployments. β€’ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins). β€’ Solid scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar). β€’ Experience working with cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or on-prem clusters). Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Experience with SUSE Rancher or other Kubernetes management platforms. β€’ Experience with IAC tools like Puppet, Ansible. β€’ Experience with CI/CD tools like Gitlab/GitHub Soft Skills: β€’ Self-starter with the ability to work independently and deliver with minimal supervision. β€’ Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. β€’ Strong documentation and knowledge transfer abilities.
