Location: Remote (Eastern Time Zone preferred)
Duration: 9-Month Contract (Potential Extension), 1099 or W2, NO C2C
Client Industry: Insurance (SME)

Overview:
Our client, a mid-sized insurance company undergoing a major digital transformation, is seeking a DevOps & Cloud Security Engineer for a 9-month remote contract.
This consultant will play a key role in a Cloud Security Modernization & Automation Program, helping the organization strengthen its cloud infrastructure, automate security controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards like NIST, SOC 2, and NAIC.
This is a hands-on, project-focused role for an engineer experienced in both DevOps automation and cloud security design - ideal for someone who enjoys bridging development, operations, and compliance in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Build and maintain secure, automated, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
β’ Integrate DevSecOps practices into all stages of the CI/CD process.
β’ Develop infrastructure-as-code modules to enforce compliance baselines (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001).
β’ Automate security controls and reporting for regulatory readiness (SOC 2, NAIC).
β’ Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation planning.
β’ Develop documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational playbooks.
β’ Recommend new tools or processes to strengthen cloud and DevOps security.
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Cloud Security.
β’ Proven hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure services and IAM.
β’ Strong proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
β’ Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
β’ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps).
β’ Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
β’ Knowledge of security frameworks: NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, SOC 2.
β’ Strong understanding of identity, access management, and network security principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
β’ Familiarity with SAML, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
β’ Certifications such as AWS Certified Security β Specialty, CISSP, CISM, or Terraform Associate.
β’ Experience with SIEM or CSPM tools (Splunk, Prisma Cloud, Tenable, etc.)
