Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes SME / Platform Engineer to support a cutting-edge Navy modernization effort focused on ship and submarine platforms. This role blends full-stack engineering with DevSecOps practices and includes contributions to technical research and white papers that shape future naval capabilities.
Responsibilities
• Architect, develop, and deploy scalable containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and maintain full-stack solutions using Python, Bash, and modern frameworks.
• Implement and manage automated testing, deployment, and monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance software delivery.
• Author technical documentation, white papers, and research briefs to support Navy modernization strategy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development and production environments.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in DevSecOps, cloud-native platforms, and military-grade software systems.
Essential Skills
• Proficiency in Linux, Kubernetes, and Python.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and development skills.
• Familiarity with infrastructure tools such as Terraform, AWS, and VMware.
• Experience in virtualization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development and DevOps.
• Experience with programming languages including Python and shell scripting (Bash).
• Experience with automated testing and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Preferred experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure as a service tools (IaaS), including OpenStack.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, including GitLab.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools, including Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in the Anti-Submarine Warfare lab located in Manassas, VA. The work environment is focused on advanced software modernization efforts with a team of premier Submarine Electronics and Anti-Submarine Warfare experts.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, Virginia.
