DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities Kforce has a client that is seeking a DevOps Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT. Summary: We're looking for a DevOps Engineer who thrives in developer-first environments and brings a strong SRE mindset to infrastructure automation, observability, and delivery. You'll work closely with developers to build scalable, resilient systems using Kubernetes, modern CI/CD practices, and innovative tooling like Cue, Nix, and OpenTelemetry. Key Responsibilities: Developer Experience & Enablement: • Collaborate directly with developers to understand pain points and streamline workflows • Build and maintain internal tooling that enhances developer productivity and deployment velocity • Functional programming experience • Champion the use of rendered manifest patterns to simplify Kubernetes deployments Kubernetes & Operator Engineering: • Implement a package management solution such as Nix to manage helm charts and deployments • Work within an established Rancher managed Kubernetes implementation • Build Kubernetes operators when necessary Observability & Monitoring: • Implement and maintain telemetry stacks using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki • Define SLOs, SLIs, and alerting strategies to ensure system reliability and performance CI/CD & Automation: • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and Nix • Explore alternatives to Helm for publishing charts and managing releases Resilience & Disaster Recovery: • Automated deployment of services and environment to facilitate disaster recovery and/or environment replication Requirements • 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles • Deep experience with Kubernetes, including operator development and Helm/Fleet • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki • Experience with on-premise deployments and hybrid cloud environments • Strong understanding of CI/CD methodologies and GitOps workflows • Strong understanding of functional programming • Proven ability to automate tasks and build developer-centric tooling • Experience with Cue is a plus • Experience with Suse Observability is a plus The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs.
