Akkodis is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer for a contract to hire role with our client in New Castle, DE. In this role, you will support their Research and Development organization and contribute to the continued success of our Thermal Analysis and Rheology products.
Hourly Rate: $65.00 to $72.50 per hour W2 based on education, experience and other factors.
Note: This is a hybrid role, not a remote role.
Responsibilities for the DevSecOps Engineer:
β’ Support development and management of Yocto-based embedded Linux build systems
β’ Customize Linux distributions using Yocto tools and recipes
β’ Troubleshoot build failures and implement timely fixes.
β’ Research and integrate new technologies to improve build infrastructure and automation workflows.
β’ Design and implement secure automation for development, test, and production environments.
β’ Manage and maintain infrastructure security and monitoring systems.
β’ Maintain detailed documentation of build processes, security protocols, and automation workflows.
β’ Provide guidance on cloud security best practices (IAM, network segmentation, encryption) and on-premises system hardening.
β’ Work closely with software QA and product security teams to ensure compliance.
β’ Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments (GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Artifactory, etc.)
β’ Employ version control (Git) best practices for embedded environments.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve engineering tools, processes, and data security.
β’ Mentor colleagues on security and automation best practices.
β’ Actively participate in team meetings and cross-product collaboration
β’ Take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives
β’ Share knowledge through formal and informal training sessions and demos
β’ Demonstrate ongoing technical growth and curiosity
Required skills and experience for the DevSecOps Engineer:
β’ Bachelorβs Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
β’ 5 years of relevant experience building, designing, and implementing CI/CD pipelines for Yocto, Debian or Ubuntu custom Linux-based organization for embedded and IoT devices.
β’ Experience working with BitBake, receipts, metadata and layers is a must-have
β’ Experience using Linus software update open-source utility is important
β’ Proficient with scripting languages such as Python, or Bash.
β’ Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and IAM management.
β’ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
β’ Proficient with build tools and pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Artifactory, etc.
β’ Experience with logging, performance monitoring, and performance tuning tools.
β’ Experience with container runtimes and orchestration tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
