Role description
Job Title: DevSecOps / Azure DevOps / OpenShift (Kubernetes) Engineer Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite) Rate: $55–65/hr on W-2 (No C2C) Overview We are seeking a highly experienced DevSecOps / Azure DevOps / OpenShift Engineer to support large-scale enterprise health IT projects. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, providing direction to teams while driving automation, security, and maturity across DevSecOps practices. This position requires deep expertise in Azure DevOps (ADO), Kubernetes/OpenShift, containerization, cloud automation, CI/CD pipelines, and Elastic Stack administration, along with excellent communication skills to collaborate across diverse technical and business teams. Key Responsibilities • Azure DevOps Leadership: Design and implement ADO standards including Wiki, work item structures, Git repos, pipelines, and pull request workflows. • CI/CD Automation: Build and optimize pipelines for applications (.NET, Java) with integrations to Tomcat, JBoss, SQL Server, Oracle, Linux, and Windows environments. • OpenShift Engineering: Create and manage Build/Deployment configurations, CRDs, Stateful Sets, Docker and S2I images, Helm charts, and troubleshoot OCP v4 environments. • Containerization: Develop and maintain Docker images, repositories (Quay), and automation workflows for enterprise deployment. • Elastic Stack: Administer Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (8.x+), manage performance and retention policies, configure pipelines, and integrate Beats (Filebeat, Heartbeat). • Security & Quality: Integrate SonarQube, Coverity, and Black Duck into pipelines for security scanning, compliance, and quality enforcement. • Scripting & Debugging: Leverage Linux shell scripting (bash, ksh), Python, and Java debugging to automate and troubleshoot enterprise solutions. • Collaboration: Partner with diverse teams to deploy, upgrade, secure, and maintain applications while mentoring junior engineers. • Documentation: Produce process documents, automation standards, and provide clear, actionable communication across teams. Required Skills & Experience • 8+ years of experience in Kubernetes/OpenShift engineering • 8+ years of Linux shell scripting experience • 5+ years as a subject matter expert in containerization management • Strong expertise with: • Azure DevOps (work items, Git repos, pipelines) • Red Hat OpenShift v4 • CI/CD automation • Elastic Stack (ELK) • Docker, Helm, S2I • SonarQube, Coverity, Black Duck • Python, Bash, Shell scripting • Networking (SSL, TCP/IP, LDAP) • Demonstrated experience with APIs, microservices, and DevSecOps practices • Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills
