Summary
The Director of Business Intelligence & AI will lead the strategy and execution of enterprise reporting and advanced analytics. This role oversees the integrated functions of Business Intelligence, AI, and Data Science – bridging operational reporting, client-facing dashboards, and applied AI to deliver actionable insights and drive better outcomes for ABOUT clients. With strong technical expertise and a strategic mindset, the Director will partner cross-functionally with Data Governance, DevOps, Engineering, Product, and Delivery teams to ensure analytics solutions are scalable, trusted, and aligned with business and client needs. This role is critical in transforming ABOUT’s product data into intelligence that supports innovation, operational performance, and improved client and patient outcomes.
• This role is based in our St. Paul MN office and requires an in-office presence 3-4 days a week.

• Business Intelligence Strategy & Execution : Lead the design and execution of reporting strategies for ABOUT’s products, ensuring insights are accurate, scalable, and tailored to clients and internal needs.
• AI & Data Science Integration: Bridge reporting and advanced analytics, serving as a technical lead for ML/AI pipeline integration, model validation, and insight delivery.
• Product-Driven Reporting Enablement: Partner with Product to integrate client-centric analytics and reporting into core product offerings. Prototype and scale dashboards that align with user needs and business goals.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as a strategic liaison across DevOps, Data Governance, Engineering, Delivery, and Product teams to ensure seamless data access, report integrity, and alignment of analytics initiatives with business goals.
• Client Insight Delivery : Interface with healthcare clients and internal delivery teams to capture reporting requirements, validate insights, and ensure effective interpretation and use of data assets.
• Innovation & Tools Optimization : Evaluate and optimize ABOUT’s analytics stack, with a focus on Tableau and Power BI. Stay current on emerging tools and AI/ML practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Team Leadership & Development : Lead a team of BI developers and data scientists. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on respect, results, client value, and cross-functional partnership.
• Performance Tracking & Data Quality : Partner with Governance and QA teams to uphold data quality and reliability. Define KPIs to evaluate the performance of data products and analytics solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Need To Have
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science , Computer Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in BI, analytics, or data leadership with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience working with DevOps and Engineering teams in data infrastructure or AI/ML deployments
• Track record of delivering reporting and analytics in SaaS, healthcare, or complex data environments
Nice To Have
• Prior experience working in a private equity-funded organization.
• Familiarity with model deployment, MLOps , or productionizing AI in partnership with engineering
• Certifications in analytics, data science, or visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Azure, CDMP)

• Leadership : Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team across technical and analytical functions.
• Analytical Thinking : Expertise in translating complex data into actionable insights and business decisions.

• Technical Expertise: Deep familiarity with BI architecture, metadata management, and data visualization standards.
• AI/ML Knowledge : Strong working knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques.
• SaaS environment: Experience working in or supporting SaaS product environments.
