Role description
Role – Engineer, Information (Senior) (2 positions) Client: MD State Reference# WO-34, Cloud Service Engineering Team Location: The primary place of performance is on-site, at 849 International Dr., Linthicum, MD, 21090 - Suite 320. Some teleworking may be permitted, based on assignment and team needs. Position Description: The Information Engineer shall apply a set of disciplines for planning, analysis, analysis, design, construction, and maintenance of information systems on a business-wide basis or across a major sector of the business. This individual is responsible for performing the following tasks: A. Performing business strategic systems planning, information planning, and analysis; B. Performing process and data modeling in support of the planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools (such as I-CASE tools); C. Applying reverse engineering and re-engineering disciplines to develop migration strategic and planning documents; D. Providing technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools; E. Architect and design secure enterprise cloud platforms, primarily within the AWS ecosystem, including configuration of Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), setting technical standards, and implementing best practices; F. Lead the design, build, and maintenance of DevOps and SecDevOps pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Nexus, Ansible, Terraform), and support orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS environment); G. Develop secure Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions using tools like Sailpoint or ForgeRock, including onboarding workflows, provisioning, access certification, and Active Directory integrations; H. Provide architectural support and technical integration for web application and middleware solutions, with potential experience managing operations within a Big Data cloud environment; I. Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for multi-tier application platforms and cloud services, resolving issues related to performance, availability, and integrations; J. Create and maintain technical documentation, including system design diagrams, process requirements, and standard operating procedures, ensuring alignment with industry and agency standards; K. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and serve as a subject matter expert for cloud and automation strategies; L. Actively contribute to strategic planning and participate in the development of migration plans, cloud roadmap recommendations, and continuous improvement initiatives; and M. Act as a liaison between cloud service engineering, cybersecurity, and application development teams to ensure consistency and compliance with architecture and security standards. Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific or technical discipline. General Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in engineering, systems analysis, design, and programming. A. Experience with designing and managing cloud infrastructure within AWS, including security controls, resource optimization, and cost management; B. Proven background in software engineering and system integration in complex environments; C. Hands-on experience with infrastructure such as code, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and containerized deployments; and D. Experience working collaboratively with Agile teams and supporting enterprise-level DevOps transformations. Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least two (2) years of experience in information systems development, functional and data requirement analysis, systems analysis, and design, programming, program design, and documentation preparation
