Location: The primary place of performance is on-site, at 849 International Dr., Linthicum, MD, 21090 - Suite 320. Some teleworking may be permitted, based on assignment and team needs.
Position Description: The Information Engineer shall apply a set of disciplines for planning, analysis, analysis, design, construction, and maintenance of information systems on a business-wide basis or across a major sector of the business. This individual is responsible for performing the following tasks:
1. Performing business strategic systems planning, information planning, and analysis;
1. Performing process and data modeling in support of the planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools (such as I-CASE tools);
1. Applying reverse engineering and re-engineering disciplines to develop migration strategic and planning documents;
1. Providing technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools;
1. Perform in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of production issues across multi-tier platforms to maintain system stability and service continuity;
1. Support platform performance, uptime, and resilience by ensuring proactive monitoring, issue detection, and escalation response;
1. Manage and maintain components of cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS) with attention to scalability, redundancy, and security;
1. Support and optimize DevOps toolchains and pipelines, contributing to automation, configuration management, and CI/CD best practices;
1. Apply advanced diagnostic techniques to isolate root causes of system failures and recommend actionable solutions;
1. Write and execute SQL scripts to validate data, troubleshoot system integrations, and support operational analytics;
1. Support data integrity by analyzing upstream and downstream data flows and ensuring consistent data quality across platforms;
1. Design and run manual and automated test cases for regression, integration, and system acceptance, supporting platform reliability;
1. Document operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, known error repositories, and architectural insights for future reference;
1. Assist in the development and enforcement of standardized best practices for platform management, deployments, and change control;
1. Collaborate across development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to ensure seamless operational support and smooth handoffs;
1. Translate technical issues and platform-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders, supporting transparency and clear expectations AA. Identify, recommend, and help implement operational improvements, optimizations, and automation opportunities for enhanced platform efficiency; and
1. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and evaluate their potential to improve platform operations or resolve known pain points.
Education: This position requires a Bachelorβs degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
General Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in engineering, systems analysis, design, and programming.
A. Experience supporting production operations of complex platforms in a cloud or hybrid-cloud enterprise environment;
B. Strong analytical skills for investigating system behaviors, identifying root causes, and implementing efficient technical solutions; and
C. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting Agile-based platform delivery and operations.
Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least two (2) years of experience in information systems development, functional and data requirement analysis, systems analysis, and design, programming, program design, and documentation preparation
A. Experience supporting platform operations for large-scale or government-based enterprise systems;
B. Proficiency in writing technical documentation and implementing knowledge-sharing practices within platform operations; and
C. Familiarity with ITIL or DevSecOps practices and using tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, or Splunk for tracking incidents and system performance.
