Engineering Analyst - Data Governance Specialist
Houston, TX

Summary
As an Engineering Analyst (Data Governance Specialist), you'll be the driving force behind the quality and reliability of the asset information that keeps our pipelines safe, compliant, and running. This isn't a back office data entry role. You'll collaborate with engineers, field crews, compliance officers, and IT teams, translating complex technical needs into clear data standards.
Responsibilities
β’ Profile, cleanse, and remediate asset data and build the processes so it stays clean.
β’ Develop data standards, naming conventions, dictionaries, and lineage documentation that align the entire organization
β’ Work shoulder to shoulder with engineering, operations, compliance, and IT to define who owns what and hold them accountable
β’ Ensure our data practices align with PHMSA requirements and industry standards including ISO, ISA, and CFIHOS
β’ Build governance dashboards and reporting to track data quality metrics and demonstrate the impact of your work
β’ Run awareness workshops and cross-functional working groups that build genuine data literacy across teams
β’ Maintain SharePoint governance workspaces, workflows, and process documentation so teams always know where to go
Background
β’ 4+ years in data governance, data management, or a related discipline (energy sector preferred)
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Information Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
β’ Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality tools
β’ Working knowledge of pipeline regulations (PHMSA) and data management standards
β’ The ability to explain complex data concepts to people without jargon
β’ Experience collaborating across engineering, operations, and compliance teams
Preferred
β’ Hands on experience with pipeline asset management systems, GIS, or records management platforms
β’ SharePoint design and administration, PowerApps form/workflow development
β’ Power BI reporting and dashboard development
β’ Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) in asset heavy organizations
