Role description
The ETL Analyst will provide daily monitoring and operational support for the Cityβs Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes that power the Data Warehouse and reporting environment. This role ensures data quality, timely processing, and exception handling to maintain trusted and accurate information for decision-making. The ETL Analyst will collaborate with database administrators, Linux system administrators, and business stakeholders to design, validate, and optimize extract and integration processes.
The ETL Analyst will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to:
Monitor daily ETL jobs, ensuring successful completion and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve exceptions related to metadata, environmental factors, and source data integrity.
Perform data validation across multiple sources to confirm accuracy and completeness.
Design, develop, and maintain extract programs and transformations to support the Cityβs Data Warehouse and reporting needs.
Collaborate with Oracle DBAs and Linux Systems Administrators to coordinate fixes, performance tuning, and environment optimization.
Document workflows, processes, and exception-handling procedures for continuity and knowledge transfer.
Conduct root cause analysis of recurring ETL issues and implement preventive measures.
Assist in testing and validating new data sources, ETL enhancements, and production releases.
Provide input on improving ETL efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
Support audit, compliance, and data governance requirements.
Expertise and/or Relevant Experience:
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience - ETL Analyst
M1. Minimum 5 yearsβ experience working with ETL tools and data integration processes.
M2. Strong SQL expertise (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
M3. Hands-on experience with Oracle database environments and Linux/Unix-based systems.
M4. Proven ability to perform data validation, quality checks, and exception handling.
M5. Experience with scheduling, monitoring, and managing ETL workflows in enterprise environments.
M6. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.
M7. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders.
M8. Ability to create clear technical documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
Desirable Qualifications - ETL Analyst
D1. Experience with PL/SQL and scripting in Linux/Unix environments.
D2. Prior work in government, healthcare, or public-sector data environments.
D3. Familiarity with cloud-based ETL solutions (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica Cloud, Talend).
D4. Exposure to reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for end-to-end validation.
D5. Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data security best practices.
D6. Certifications in ETL, Data Warehousing, or related areas (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Oracle Data Integrator).
