Overview
Are you a data expert who thrives on creating order from chaos? Do you enjoy travel, direct client interaction, and the satisfaction of seeing your work come to life in real time?
We’re looking for an experienced, polished contractor to lead onsite customer data migrations for independent Registered Financial Advisors and boutique advisory firms. Each engagement involves a deep dive into legacy systems, mapping critical customer data into a modern broker-dealer platform, and ensuring a seamless transition with zero data loss or compliance risk. You’ll serve as both architect and executor of the migration process, directly supporting advisory teams through every step.
What You’ll Do
Process Design & Documentation
• Analyze existing client record schemas and business workflows to understand the data landscape.
• Define clear data mapping specifications and create step-by-step migration procedures.
• Deliver polished, client-facing documentation including runbooks and SOPs.
Data Mapping & Transformation
• Map data fields, codes, and custom fields from source to target systems.
• Clean, validate, and transform data using advanced Excel techniques (macros, pivot tables, Power Query).
• Use SQL, Python, or ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica) to support complex transformations as needed.
Onsite Execution & Client Engagement
• Travel to client offices and serve as the embedded migration lead for the duration of the engagement.
• Conduct real-time validation with client stakeholders and adapt as needed.
• Train staff on the new process and deliver all documentation upon handoff.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
• Implement robust QA protocols to ensure 100% data fidelity throughout the process.
• Follow strict FINRA/SEC compliance guidelines and internal data security practices.
• Handle all client data with the highest level of confidentiality and care.
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
• Data & Excel Expertise: Advanced Excel skills required, including formulas, macros, and Power Query.
• Technical Fluency: Proficiency in SQL and at least one ETL platform or scripting language (e.g., Python).
• Financial Data Familiarity: Prior experience handling sensitive financial-services data and data mapping standards.
• Client-Facing Communication: Polished, articulate, and professional in both verbal and written communication.
• Attention to Detail: Flawless data handling, methodical organization, and pride in producing error-free work.
• Travel Readiness: Willing to travel on short notice and work onsite for week-long client engagements.
• Autonomy: Able to own the process from end to end with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
• Familiarity with CRM and broker-dealer platforms such as Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Redtail, Junxure, Orion, or Advent.
• Previous consulting experience with RIA or broker-dealer transitions.
Why You’ll Love This Contract
You’ll solve real-world data problems, partner with elite advisory teams, and see the direct impact of your work—one migration at a time. If you speak “pivot table” fluently, thrive in client settings, and take pride in turning messy data into clean handoffs, we’d love to meet you.
