Role description
Position Title: Principal Business Systems Analyst β Finance (D365 R2R)
Location: Lowell , MA (Hybrid β Mon, Tue, Wed onsite; Thu, Fri remote)
Contract Duration: 6 months (Contract-to-Hire)
Work Hours: 8:00 AM β 5:00 PM EST (1-hour lunch break); 40 hours/week; No overtime or weekend work expected
Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst with deep expertise in Record to Report (R2R) processes and extensive hands-on experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 ERP). This role is instrumental in ensuring system stability, driving process optimization, and enabling global finance operations. The successful candidate will act as a trusted partner to Finance, Accounting, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders, delivering innovative solutions, resolving production issues, and guiding system enhancements to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Act as the functional SME for D365 Finance & Operations with focus on R2R areas: General Ledger, Consolidations, Intercompany, and Fixed Assets.
β’ Lead requirements gathering, business process analysis, and solution design for financial systems initiatives.
β’ Manage production support and operations delivery, including incident management, RCA, performance monitoring, and SLA compliance.
β’ Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and business users to deliver enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and release management.
β’ Drive continuous improvement by leveraging D365 capabilities, automation, and industry best practices.
β’ Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and corporate governance standards.
β’ Conduct system testing, deployment activities, and post-production validation to maintain operational stability.
β’ Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts while shaping the finance systems strategy.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field (MBA/CPA a plus).
β’ 8+ years of experience with D365 ERP Finance & Operations, specifically in Record to Report processes.
β’ Proven track record in production support, ERP implementations, and post-production delivery.
β’ Strong knowledge of financial reporting, GAAP/IFRS standards, and compliance frameworks.
β’ Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Skills
β’ Expertise with D365FO and related ERP capabilities.
β’ Experience with automation and reporting tools (Power BI, BlackLine, Hyperion, ServiceNow, etc.).
β’ Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, and change management).
β’ Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
β’ Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with a focus on operational excellence.
