Financial Data Analyst - Up to £450 Inside IR35

Job Specification – Financial Data Business Analyst (6-Month Contract) Duration: 6 months (with potential extension) London Type: £450 inside IR35: Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Data Business Analyst (BA / Data Analyst) to join our Product Team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that financial data and reporting solutions meet the needs of our finance users. The role requires not only strong analytical and technical skills, but also the ability to work closely with finance stakeholders, engineers, and developers to deliver end-to-end solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Analyse incoming business and data demands into the Product Team, ensuring requirements are well understood, documented, and prioritised. • Partner with finance stakeholders to perform deep-dive analysis of financial data, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities. • Translate business requirements into clear specifications for development teams, ensuring traceability through to delivery. • Support the design and delivery of financial data solutions including data warehouses, reporting systems, and dashboards. • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and testers to ensure solutions are aligned with business and technical needs. • Contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and progress reporting using Agile delivery practices. • Act as a bridge between finance teams and technical teams, ensuring mutual understanding and successful outcomes. Key Skills & Experience: • Analytical Expertise: Proven ability to perform complex data analysis (beyond simple mapping) across financial data sets, warehouses, and reporting platforms. • Domain Knowledge: Exposure to Finance Products (e.g., general ledger, reconciliations, reporting systems) or Insurance Products highly advantageous. • Technical Skills: • Strong SQL for data interrogation and validation. • Experience with Big Data and complex financial datasets. • Exposure to Azure DevOps or similar tooling for backlog management and delivery. • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to challenge, influence, and manage senior stakeholders. • Delivery Mindset: Proven track record of working in cross-functional product teams and delivering data solutions in Agile environments. Preferred Background: • Prior experience working as a Business Analyst / Data Analyst in Financial Services (ideally within Finance or Insurance domains). • Experience working with finance teams (e.g., financial reporting, data governance, or finance transformation projects). • Understanding of financial systems, reporting standards, and data flows in a regulated environment.
