Description:
As a FinOps Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud financial operations by turning raw usage data into business insights. Youβll work at the intersection of finance, engineering, and operations to ensure that cloud resources are used efficiently and cost-effectively. Your role will be pivotal in driving financial accountability across teams and aligning cloud spending with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Monitor and analyze cloud usage and spending trends across platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, surface anomalies and drive to resolution
β’ Implement cost optimization and waste management strategies (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, right-sizing)
β’ Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into cloud costs
β’ Establish and enforce tagging standards and cost allocation policies. Ensure all resources are tagged every month
β’ Educate teams on FinOps best practices and promote a culture of cost awareness
β’ Automate cost management tasks and integrate FinOps tools into CI/CD pipelines
β’ Flexera One CCO administrator
β’ Participate in external forums to bring improvement suggestions on the FinOps engineering best practices (e.g. attending and contributing to FinOps foundation slack channels, community forums, FinOps-X days, etc.)
Required Skills & Qualifications:
β’ 5+ years of overall experience and 2+ years as FinOps engineer
β’ Strong understanding of cloud platforms and pricing models
β’ Deep understanding of cloud native cost management tools and Flexera One Cloud Cost Optimization
β’ Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
β’ Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation
β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ FinOps Certified Engineer or similar certification.
β’ Experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering roles.
