Role description
Position: FreeBSD Engineer with C++ Complete Remote Work Long-Term Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a contractor with a solid understanding of FreeBSD and security-related concepts to support our team in addressing issues identified through security scans of our FreeBSD-based codebase. This role does not require deep kernel-level expertise but does demand familiarity with FreeBSD environments and a strong grasp of application-level and system-level security practices. Required Skills & Experience: β€’ Hands-on experience with FreeBSD or similar UNIX-like operating systems. β€’ Hands-on experience with C++. β€’ Solid understanding of security fundamentals including vulnerability types (e.g., buffer overflows, privilege escalation, insecure configurations). β€’ Experience in analyzing and fixing issues from tools such as static analysis tools, vulnerability scanners, or penetration test reports. β€’ Comfortable working in a command-line environment and using version control systems like Git. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Analyze and triage findings from automated and manual security scans. β€’ Investigate and resolve security vulnerabilities in the FreeBSD codebase. β€’ Collaborate with internal engineering and security teams to apply patches or implement mitigations. β€’ Maintain documentation for issues identified and resolutions applied. β€’ Proactively contribute to improving overall security posture of the FreeBSD codebase.
