Job Title: GCP Cloud Engineer
Work Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid: 2–3 weeks onsite)
Other Locations: Sheffield / Birmingham / Edinburgh
Contract: 6+ months (extensions based on performance)
We are seeking an experienced GCP Cloud Engineer to join a leading global financial institution. This role involves building, deploying, and managing cloud services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while ensuring performance, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Deploy, configure, and secure backend REST API services using CSP native services.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) with full traceability and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor, optimize, and secure GCP cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and high availability.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams to meet governance and compliance standards.
• Support live systems, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes for incidents and bottlenecks.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, focusing on large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven expertise with GCP, including networking, IAM, databases (PostgreSQL), and cost optimization.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD, automation scripting.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, microservices, Kubernetes, serverless functions, and enterprise logging/monitoring (ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Security knowledge: encryption, authentication, compliance in regulated industries.
• Excellent communication and proven delivery of complex projects.
Desirable Skills
• Experience in financial services / banking.
• Programming in Python and Golang.
• GCP Certifications (Cloud Engineer / Cloud DevOps Engineer).
• Familiarity with audit, governance, and risk management in enterprise systems.
