GDPS Engineer

Title: Remote GDPS Engineer-Fulltime We're looking for a GDPS Engineer. They need to have extensive experience with GDPS, Netview/SA, and BCP/DR practices. Experience as a consultant would be a plus. The position is 100% remote. Limited travel is expected (less than once a quarter currently, which makes it 99% remote). After hours support as required by the customer. No on-call support . We know this is a rare skill set as it exists. Candidates will most likely come from companies the size of JPMC, Wells Fargo, AMEX, or IRS. It will require at least 5 years dedicated experience with GDPS (not just Storage), most likely 10 years' experien ce. Below are common skill sets of Storage Mainframe which they still will be involved with but the GDPS is critical as discus sed:Mainframe BCPDR Engi neerThe mainframe BCPDR engineer is focused on providing high availability, highly resilient, and disaster recovery solutions for mainframe clients. This person works closely with the customer to establish an environment for this solution, customizing it for their needs. They establish test plans and assist with failover testing as well as provide long term support for BCP/DR eve nts. Scope of Responsibili • ties:Design, review, develop, test, implement, validate, and support an IBM Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex solution meeting customer requirem • ents.Assist with system solution design including concept presentations and investment propo • sals.Design and assist the customer in establishing the necessary Sysplex and LPAR configuration to support the addition of the GDPS Controlling System(s) and the SDM Systems(s) (for • XRC).Design and assist the customer to establish the necessary IODFs for the solu • tion.Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storage environments to new hard • ware.Assist the customer with the installation and customization of NetView, SA for z/OS, and • GDPS.Design and Support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Isolation Testing exerc • ises.Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storage environments to new hard • ware.Ensure that all solution environments comply with customer security stand • ards.Consult with the customer on software changes and new features of soft • ware.Ensure that all work and deliverables comply with customer security standards, change control, audit processes and mechan • isms.Produce clear technical documentation and conform to any audit requirem • ents.Provide Edge internal or customer training on relevant areas of responsibi • lity.Conform to customer audit requirem • ents.Must work hours according to customer availability requirements and implementation win • dows.May require tr • avel.Other duties as requ ired.Requirem • ents:4 years of progressive experience as a mainframe systems progra • mmer.Current knowledge of mainframe architecture, hardware, operating systems, and components. Components may Include, but are not limited to, TN3270, SMP/e, JCL, WLM (Workload Manager), CF, SMF, DASD, DFSMS, LPARS, Channels, IPL processes, CICS, DB2, MQ, Parallel Sysplex, IO Configurations, OS Configurations, z/OS Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning tools, and related ISV software prod • ucts.Functional knowledge and use of z/OS components and supporting hard • ware.Functional knowledge of mainframe middleware, batch, and • JCL.Functional knowledge of application interfaces (FTP/TN3270/connection/batch/CICS/DB2/MQ/distribu • ted).Operating system general knowledge for Win • dows.Functional knowledge of Microsoft office prod • ucts.Strong leadership, time management and organizational sk • ills.Excellent communications, and interpersonal sk • ills.Eager to build professional relationships with staff and cli • ents.Ability to work unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside ven • dors.Ability to understand & facilitate decision making on key issues concerning a pro • ject.Capability to shuffle priorities in response to a changing work • load.Flexibility to keep up with changing techno logy.
