Job Title: GIS Analyst – Data Audit & Certification V2
Job ID: 25-63921
Location: Austin, TX 78729 | 100% REMOTE
Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient GIS Analyst to support the certification and quality assurance of global transportation and navigation datasets. This role blends rigorous geospatial data validation with high-volume spatial review workflows to ensure that real-world features—such as pedestrian pathways, vehicular routes, and trail networks—are accurately represented and production-ready.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of analytical precision, workflow efficiency, and data integrity awareness to support a dynamic mapping and mobility product ecosystem. This role requires a strong foundation in geospatial standards, data interpretation, and spatial QA/QC, along with the ability to document findings, recognize patterns, and communicate quality trends.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive audits of geospatial data to verify spatial accuracy, completeness, and logical network connectivity.
• Validate and certify datasets for production use, ensuring they meet both internal standards and global data specifications.
• Manually review and assess high volumes of GIS data points, using internal tooling, satellite/aerial imagery, and multiple data signals.
• Identify and document anomalies, inconsistencies, and classification issues in spatial data using both automated and manual methods.
• Execute data quality assurance (QA/QC) workflows with precision, maintaining accuracy thresholds of 95% or higher.
• Collaborate with engineering and data operations teams to resolve data discrepancies and implement root cause solutions.
• Maintain structured audit logs, certification reports, and metadata updates to support traceability and data governance.
• Participate in peer-review and feedback cycles to maintain consistency and contribute to procedural improvements.
Desired Skills And Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s a plus).
• 2+ years of experience working with GIS data, preferably in transportation or infrastructure mapping.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and spatial data platforms.
• Familiarity with transportation network modeling, including topology, routing networks, and pedestrian/vehicular systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to review large datasets with a high degree of accuracy.
• Understanding of geospatial data standards such as GTFS, NENA, or trail/road schema variants.
• Ability to interpret multi-layer imagery and extract relevant spatial features based on project scope.
• Strong documentation skills and a methodical approach to QA tracking and procedural feedback.
• Comfortable working both independently and in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced, private-sector environment.
Additional Details
• Remote-first role with minimal onsite needs (e.g., orientation or equipment pickup/drop off).
• Flexible start date, contract-based position with potential for renewal.
• Candidates must be able to deliver accurate work independently and meet defined SLAs for quality and turnaround.
Why Join Us
• Play a key role in delivering high-quality geospatial data that powers real-world navigation, logistics, and mobility systems.
• Contribute to innovative mapping products used by millions of users worldwide.
• Be part of a collaborative, quality-driven environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and advance your GIS expertise.
