Role description

The Revenue Cycle Data Analyst supports healthcare revenue cycle operations through advanced data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation. This role requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data validation, to ensure accurate financial reporting and identify revenue trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze revenue cycle data related to billing, collections, denials, and payments
• Create and maintain detailed Excel reports using pivot tables, formulas (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, etc.), and data models
• Perform routine and ad hoc data reconciliation between multiple systems to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Identify discrepancies, trends, and root causes impacting revenue performance
• Support month-end and period-end reporting processes
• Collaborate with billing, finance, and operations teams to resolve data issues
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with healthcare financial standards
• Provide clear, actionable insights to leadership through reports and dashboards
Required Qualifications
• Strong experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data reconciliation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work with large datasets from multiple sources
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with healthcare billing systems or EHR/PM systems
• Knowledge of revenue cycle metrics (AR, denials, cash posting, adjustments, etc.)
• Experience creating dashboards or automated reports
Skills & Competencies
• Advanced Excel expertise in a healthcare revenue cycle operations environment
• Data analysis and reconciliation
• Financial and revenue cycle knowledge
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
