IBM DataStage ETL Developer (DB2)

Title: IBM DataStage ETL Developer (DB2) Location: Albany, NY (Onsite) Duration: Long-Term Contract Job Description: We are seeking an experienced IBM DataStage ETL Developer with strong DB2 expertise to support modernization and migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing ETL processes while supporting the transition from pre-production to production environments. This role also involves configuration, installation, upgrades, and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term operational self-sufficiency. Key Responsibilities: • Modernize, implement, configure, upgrade, and migrate DB2 technologies. • Design, develop, and optimize IBM DataStage ETL/ELT jobs for large-scale data migration. • Perform mainframe data analysis involving VSAM, DB2, and MSSQL systems. • Map, cleanse, transform, and validate data to ensure consistency and quality. • Develop scripts for job orchestration, environment health checks, and patch management. • Conduct performance tuning of ETL processes to meet project timelines and goals. • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions. • Monitor ETL jobs, resolve issues, and provide ongoing production support. • Collaborate effectively across teams during phased implementation cycles. Required Skills & Experience: • Proven experience with IBM DataStage ETL/ELT development (design, build, optimization). • Strong knowledge of DB2, VSAM, and MSSQL data structures. • Hands-on experience with data cleansing, transformation, and validation. • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Shell, Python, or Batch) for automation and orchestration. • Solid understanding of data relationships, dependencies, and metadata management. • Expertise in ETL performance tuning and troubleshooting. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Experience working in migration and modernization projects is highly preferred. • Familiarity with phased implementation and cross-functional collaboration.
