Job Title: Impact Analyst
Location. Mexico City, Berlin, London
Job Purpose and Background:
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is seeking an analytical, self-starting Impact Analyst to join our Impact Department. In this role you’ll sit at the nexus of data science, research, and strategic corporate engagement. You will partner closely with technical, engagement, partnerships, and communications colleagues to translate complex datasets and insight into compelling slide decks, reports, and interactive materials that propel corporate climate action forward by demonstrating SBTi’s impact in the world.
This role is a cross-cutting, team support role that will be split across different functions in the Impact Department, approximately as follows:
• 25% impact evidence modeling and research, evidence synthesis and reporting
• 70% analytical support for regional engagement teams in North America, Latin America and Europe and the global financial institutions engagement team
• 5% support for cross-functional collaboration
This role plays an important part in achieving:
Quantifying and communicating our achievements and equipping internal and external stakeholders with evidence-driven insights and engagement materials. This role will ensure that support across the Impact department is well-coordinated and strategically aligned.
About the SBTi:
The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies worldwide to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
The SBTi defines and promotes best practices in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets.

Key responsibilities include:
Materials Development & Analysis Support
• Translate analytical outputs into visually engaging slides, infographics, and one-pagers for external meetings, webinars, and events and for internal workshops and briefings.
• Support regional teams by providing data-driven talking points and slide packs tailored to audience needs.
• Own and maintain a clear, functional ticketing system for handling specific analysis requests from the Impact team.
• Take ownership of fulfilling specific analysis requests from the Impact department (via ticketing system), ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
Data Analysis and Modeling
• Analyze data on companies’ scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and target-setting performance in order to quantify current SBTi impact.
• Support development of quantitative models to project SBTi’s medium- and long-term impact under different uptake and ambition scenarios.
Evidence Synthesis & Reporting
• Contribute significantly to the production of Monitoring and Impact Reports benchmarking SBTi’s progress, including partner updates and sector deep-dives.
• Support the Impact Research and Evidence Manager to design and manage a feedback loop (surveys, interviews, roundtables) with corporate and expert stakeholders to validate impact assessment methodology and surface emerging trends.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with the Partnerships, Standards, Data and Communications teams to ensure alignment of impact metrics, messaging, and outreach.
• Liaise with regional teams to integrate local data and case studies, ensuring global impact narratives are grounded in regional context.
Essential skills and experience needed:
• 2–4 years of professional experience in data analysis, impact measurement, or consulting (preferably in a sustainability- or climate-focused practice) with demonstrable experience translating analysis into high-quality engagement materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Data Science, Engineering or related field. Relevant professional experience is also considered.
• Prior experience in a consultancy, academia or program management, with training in analytical frameworks and client-ready deliverables, would be highly valued.
• Knowledge of corporate GHG accounting, climate science basics, and the Science Based Targets methodology.
• Experience delivering small- and mid-scale research or evaluation projects.
• Graphic-design sensibility and familiarity with basic design software (e.g. Illustrator, InDesign) a bonus.
• Experience in data analysis using Python (preferred), R, or equivalent code-based statistical tools.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and PowerPoint (charting, slide design).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
• Analytical & Problem-solving: High attention to detail; ability to interpret quantitative results and identify business-relevant insights.
Desirable criteria:
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; able to distill technical analyses into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
• Collaboration: Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder projects and work effectively across time zones and disciplines.
• Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and a fast-paced international environment.
