Role: Business Analyst– IT / Software
Location: Bristol or Yeovil
Duration: 12months
Role Type: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
Salary: Around £60 – dependingon experience
About the Role:
Our globallyrenowned aerospace is seeking a Business Analyst,IT / Software, to work closely with business teams to identify, define, and manage requirements for technology-driven solutions.
The Business Analyst will act as the primary link between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring that technicalsolutions are fully aligned with organisational needs.This role requiresthe ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively at all levels, and facilitate collaboration between technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will be confident, proactive, and experienced in working within a matrix environment.
The client’s business unit supports a wide range of business functions, including Finance, HR, Engineering, Supply Chain, Programme Management, and Operations. The Business Analyst will be expected to analyserequirements and defineIT solutions acrossthese diverse areas.Occasional travel within the UK will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyse,and document clear and comprehensive business requirements.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories,and solution designs.
• Conduct gap analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessments to inform decision-making.
• Facilitate workshops, interviews, and review sessionsto validate requirements and proposed solutions.
• Work closely with project managersand IT teams to ensureaccurate implementation of requirements.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), includingtest case creation, coordination, and documentation of outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and user documentation.
• Track project progressand support scope control, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate technology solutions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation throughout the projectlifecycle.
Education and Experience:
• Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a relateddiscipline.
• Significant experience (typically 5+ years) workingas an IT Business Analyst.
• Strong knowledge of business analysismethodologies, tools, and best practice.
• Proven experience in requirements gathering, process modelling, and documentation.
• Good understanding of the SoftwareDevelopment Lifecycle (SDLC)and Agile deliverymethods.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in toolssuch as JIRA, Confluence, and MS Visio.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to operateeffectively with both business and technical teams.
• Preferable knowledge of supply chain, procurement, engineering, finance, asset management, maintenance, or support environments.
• High standard of written communication.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience with SparxEnterprise Architect and DOORs.
• Development of Use Cases and UML modelling.
• Broad understanding of IT management, including applications, infrastructure, project delivery, and supplier management.
• Experience within the Defence sector.
• Knowledge of ITAR,Official-Sensitive, and export-controlled data handling.
• Experience with enterprise systems such as Oracle, SAP, GOLDesp, TeamCentre Multisite, and SharePoint.
• Experience working withina large, complex,multinational matrix organisation, as well as within small teams.
