Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Informix 4GL Consultant to support mission-critical applications within a Unix/Linux environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in Informix 4GL development, Unix/Linux shell scripting, and database architecture. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and business teams. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux shell scripts and Informix ISQL/4GL programs. • Utilize Informix C-ISAM libraries for managing index sequential access methods. • Maintain and support Windows-based environments, particularly up to Windows 7. • Use version control systems such as Visual Source Safe (VSS) or Team Foundation Server (TFS). • Employ terminal emulation tools such as Power Term 6.1.0 for system access. • Interface with internal and external IT teams and users for requirements gathering, coordination, and support. • Provide DBA-level support including schema management, job scheduling, performance tuning, and security. • Design and optimize database architecture with a focus on high availability, normalization, and disaster recovery. Required Skills and Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in: • Unix/Linux shell scripting for enterprise applications • Informix ISQL/4GL development and troubleshooting • Informix C-ISAM • Database development and administration in Informix SE • Working with source code control tools (VSS, TFS) • Terminal emulation tools (e.g., Power Term) • Windows OS environments through Windows 7 • Managing database integrity, roles, users, and batch jobs in a Unix/Linux setup • Strong knowledge of database design best practices including normalization, indexing, and optimization • Proficient in developing Ace Reports and utilizing Active Directory for connectivity Preferred Skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Experience writing user and technical documentation • Proficiency in MS Office Professional Suite (2003 or later) • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills • Analytical thinker with problem-solving capabilities Experience in: • Project management • Evaluating application security • Programming in Fortran and Perl • Supporting Access DB Applications • Human Resources and Payroll systems • Electronic file transfers using FTPC32 • Using Maximo for service request management Education • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, or a related field (4-year degree required)
