Role description
We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to join a dynamic trading environment in Houston, Texas. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work closely with front and middle office teams, contributing to the development and support of trading systems in the commodities space, specifically oil and gas. Job Title: IT Business Analyst – Commodity Trading (Hybrid, Houston, TX) Contract Type: W2 Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid – 2-3 days onsite per week) Contract Duration: 25 September 2025 – 6 April 2026 Key Responsibilities β€’ Act as a subject matter expert for trading systems initiatives. β€’ Translate business requirements into technical specifications across delivery teams. β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, support, and technical business users. β€’ Analyze and map RFQ, order, and trade lifecycles to improve system efficiency. β€’ Ensure compliance with trading regulations (e.g., MiFID II, EMIR, FCA). β€’ Support exchange certification, application deployment, and vendor management. Must-Have Skills β€’ Proven experience as an IT Business Analyst in a trading environment (Front Office/Middle Office preferred). β€’ Strong understanding of Exchange Traded Derivatives and Commodity Trading (Oil & Gas). β€’ Deep knowledge of the trade lifecycle and global futures exchanges. β€’ Familiarity with market data providers (Bloomberg, Refinitiv) and liquidity platforms. β€’ Experience with regulatory frameworks and compliance (MiFID II, EMIR, FCA). Technical Expertise β€’ FIX Engineering and messaging systems. β€’ Scripting and programming skills (Python, PowerShell, C#, SQL). β€’ Experience with EMS/OMS platforms (TT, NYFIX, Bloomberg, TradingScreen). β€’ Proficiency in Windows and Linux environments. β€’ Network protocol debugging (TCP, multicast). Soft Skills β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. β€’ Excellent communication skills across technical and business teams. β€’ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment. β€’ Proactive, flexible, and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
