Jasper Reports Developer

Role: Jasper Reports Developer Location: Austin, TX (Remote) Duration: Long term contract This Senior role performs advanced analysis involving all aspects of supporting, improving, and enhancing the database and reports for a large project. This position requires strong SQL, PL/SQL and Stored Procedure skills. The worker will also devise approaches to solving complex problems, provide thought leadership, manage project scope, and provide ongoing updates on project status. The worker will also need to exhibit a high level of skill in data aggregation and analysis. This position works for section of IT-SEDS (Information Technology – Statewide Education Data System). Work assignments follow a defined software development life cycle (SDLC) process using an Agile-like approach for completing code changes for defined releases. This role works across multiple agency stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and efficacy of created reports, in the service of Texas's 1200 school districts. Plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. Evaluates user request for new or modified program, such as for financial or human resource management systems, clinical research trial results, statistical study of traffic patterns, or analyzing and developing specifications for bridge design, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities. Consults with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program, using methodologies such as structured analysis and design or object-oriented development. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, may lead and direct the work of others, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. • Database and Jasper Reports Development • Documentation • Bugs: Core and PEIMS projects • Dev/Unit Testing • Participate in Agile development SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 8 years required in designing, coding and supporting using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL 8 years required in Jasper Reports Development 8years required in Unit Testing and Dev Testing Experience 8 years required in Agile Software Development using SDLC 4 years required in Jira Software Cloud and Confluence TERMS OF SERVICE Services are expected to start 04/01/2026 and are expected to complete by 08/31/2026.
