Role description
This is 100% onsite role in Fremont, CA 94538. The Fremont Lab Operations team is expanding and transforming R&D labs to support evolving business needs while maintaining a safe, customer-trusted, and efficient lab environment, with a forward-looking focus on lab automation. This role will lead and support lab improvements initiatives that enable operational business goals and enhance the experience of lab users across business units. The engineer will apply strong problem-solving skills, project management, and Six Sigma methodologies to design new systems, improve existing services, and increase execution efficiency within the lab community. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, data-driven engineer who excels at solving complex problems and managing multiple projects in a cross-functional environment. Key projects include business process and governance development, lab operation systems design and integration, automation initiatives, and lab space planning and workflow optimization. Top skills: β€’ Continuous Improvement expertise using 5S/6S, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies β€’ Strong project ownership with cross-functional execution capability β€’ Data-driven analytical problem solving with KPI and performance metrics focus Requirements: β€’ 5S or 6-sigma methodology knowledge required β€’ Project management skill required β€’ Able to lift ~30 lb and stand/walk/work in the clean room lab β€’ Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 2 years of continuous improvement or project-based experience; semiconductor and Lab R&D experience strongly preferred β€’ Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting capability with strong structural problem-solving and project management skills β€’ Basic software programming and experience required (e.g., Power BI, Power Automate, SQL, Python, QuickBase, Jira, or equivalent tools) β€’ Strong data analytics, data visualization, and database management skills β€’ Proven ability to work effectively as a team player with strong core values and ownership mindset β€’ Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts clearly β€’ Demonstrated experience in technical documentation, report writing, and professional presentations β€’ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment β€’ Experience with automation, robotics, and system integration preferred Primary Responsibilities: β€’ Apply engineering principles to identify and prioritize lab improvement opportunities. β€’ Develop and implement practical, high-ROI lab improvement solutions. β€’ Plan and coordinate system testing; gather and incorporate lab user feedback on usability and performance. β€’ Analyze operational data and define metrics to measure lab process and system performance. β€’ Lead and drive cross-functional projects to completion, collaborating with lab users, global lab operations, Facilities, IT, EHS, and software/hardware vendors. β€’ Establish and sustain effective governance processes to ensure long-term adoption and compliance β€’ Execute solution rollouts, including documentation, training, lessons learned, and post-implementation feedback to support continuous improvement.
