Lead Data Engineer – Azure | PySpark | Databricks

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines, optimize cloud-based data ecosystems, and mentor a skilled team of engineers. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring high standards of code quality, resilience, and performance across key initiatives.
What You’ll Do
• 🔧 Design & Build Pipelines: Develop scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Python, PySpark, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Databricks.
• 🚀 Drive Development: Lead development initiatives with a strong focus on first-time-right (FTR) coding practices and continuous improvement.
• ✅ Ensure Quality: Conduct code reviews, implement unit testing, and manage CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
• 🛠️ Reduce Tech Debt: Proactively identify and resolve technical debt, system vulnerabilities, and inefficiencies.
• 👥 Mentor & Lead: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering an environment of learning and innovation.
• 🤝 Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with stakeholders in Product, Cloud Security, DevOps, and Network teams to deliver integrated data solutions.
• 🧠 Solve Problems: Troubleshoot complex issues in production environments and deliver performance-optimized solutions.
• 📄 Document Everything: Ensure clear and thorough documentation of systems, processes, and architecture.
• 📣 Communicate with Impact: Provide timely updates, insights, and technical recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
What You Bring
• 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer in cloud and big data environments.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and working with Avro, JSON, and CSV formats.
• Strong experience in Azure ecosystem: ADLS, Azure Synapse, ADF, Azure Databricks.
• Experience with Terraform and DevOps practices in cloud environments.
• Skilled in setting up CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and delivery frameworks.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to thrive in a shared services environment and manage multiple parallel initiatives.
