Role description
Job Title :: Lead Data Engineer Location :: Denver CO Job Type: Contract We are seeking a β€’ β€’ Data Catalog & Governance Specialist β€’ β€’ to support our β€’ β€’ Send Money / Payments platform β€’ β€’ , ensuring robust metadata management, data lineage visibility, and regulatory-grade governance across transactional and customer data domains. This role is critical in establishing transparency and trust across payment flows, customer onboarding data, compliance datasets (KYC/AML), and reporting pipelines. Key Responsibilities β€’ Configure and administer enterprise β€’ β€’ data catalog platforms β€’ β€’ to support payment and transaction data domains β€’ Define and manage β€’ β€’ business and technical metadata β€’ β€’ for: β€’ Transaction data β€’ Customer/KYC data β€’ Beneficiary and wallet data β€’ Payment status and settlement data β€’ Establish and maintain β€’ β€’ end-to-end data lineage β€’ β€’ across: β€’ Send Money application β€’ Middleware/API layers β€’ Data warehouse and reporting systems β€’ Partner with data engineering teams to monitor and document β€’ β€’ ETL/ELT pipelines β€’ β€’ supporting payment processing β€’ Perform and document β€’ β€’ data quality assessments β€’ β€’ for critical financial datasets β€’ Define and enforce β€’ β€’ data governance policies β€’ β€’ , including: β€’ Data classification (PII, financial data, sensitive fields) β€’ Access control and role-based permissions β€’ Retention and audit requirements β€’ Support regulatory and compliance needs (AML, audit trails, transaction monitoring) β€’ Drive enterprise-wide adoption of the data catalog across business, risk, compliance, and engineering teams β€’ Lead metadata onboarding workshops and training sessions Required Skills & Experience β€’ Hands-on experience with β€’ β€’ data catalog and metadata management tools β€’ β€’ (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC, Microsoft Purview, Atlan, etc.) β€’ Strong understanding of: β€’ Data modeling (transactional and analytical models) β€’ Data lineage and impact analysis β€’ Data quality frameworks and monitoring β€’ ETL/ELT processes in financial systems β€’ Experience working with β€’ β€’ transaction-heavy systems or payment platforms β€’ β€’ β€’ Proficiency in β€’ β€’ SQL β€’ β€’ and familiarity with β€’ β€’ Python scripting β€’ β€’ β€’ Understanding of data privacy and financial regulatory controls β€’ Experience supporting audit and compliance reporting Preferred (Highly Desirable) β€’ Experience in β€’ β€’ FinTech, Digital Banking, or Payments domain β€’ β€’ β€’ Exposure to Send Money / Remittance / Wallet-based applications β€’ Familiarity with KYC, AML, fraud detection, and transaction monitoring data flows β€’ Experience working with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS, etc.) Soft Skills β€’ Strong stakeholder communication across product, risk, compliance, and engineering β€’ Ability to translate technical metadata into business-understandable definitions β€’ Strong organizational and documentation discipline β€’ Experience driving data governance adoption initiatives β€’ Ability to operate in a regulated, high-availability environment
