Role Summary: As the Lead Data scientist, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing our data models and data infrastructure to enable and execute analysis-driven decision making and reporting. You will work closely with our data team and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver seamless data analytics to drive strategic decision-making, innovation, and enhance the overall data ecosystem. This role requires a strong technical background in SQL, Python, data modeling, and ETL processes, along with a deep understanding of analytics best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a deep analytic understanding of product (both qualitative and quantitative) to provide data-based analytics to deliver innovation and optimization across user acquisition, engagement, and profitability
Collaborate with cross-functional business teams including marketing, product, and strategy to translate business needs into robust and actionable solutions Clean and analyze robust user datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights using statistical methods and software tools that can power forecasting and decision making
Conduct data profiling and data quality analysis and convey results clearly to help business understanding of problems and effects
Identify and fill reporting gaps in existing data infrastructure as well as maintaining data documentation
Develop strategies to capture and utilize untapped analysis and data sets
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across various business functions.
Implement and manage data governance best practices
Work with cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and analytics tools (e.g., dbt, Looker, Tableau, Sigma) in addition to standing up a data science tool stack
Minimum Qualifications
5+ Years of experience in data science, analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related role.
Strong Python and SQL skills, plus experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to gather, arrange, organize, and communicate a substantial amount of information with accuracy and attention to detail
Understanding of data modeling principles (Kimball, Star Schema, etc.).
Familiarity with BI tools like Sigma, Looker, Tableau, or Mode Analytics.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
Passion for data-driven decision-making, improving business outcomes, restaurants and hospitality
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, information sciences, statistics or related field or equivalent work experience
Experience with feature engineering and supervised learning models
Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines.
Previous startup experience

The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of in-person work at the physical office location in downtown Austin, Texas
