Role description
Position Title: Lead DevOps Engineer Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid) Clearance Requirements: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) Position Status: Full Time – Contract Pay Rate: $75–$85/hr (W2) Position Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer with deep hands-on experience in Red Hat OpenShift, GitOps, and modern CI/CD tools. This hybrid role based in Richmond, VA will be critical to scaling secure, cloud-native infrastructure and driving deployment automation across the enterprise. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, QA teams, product managers, and infrastructure specialists to build and optimize robust DevOps pipelines. You’ll play a leadership role in shaping deployment strategy, improving reliability, and mentoring engineering teams on containerization and automation best practices. Key Responsibilities: • Deploy, upgrade, and manage applications on Red Hat OpenShift using Helm Charts • Lead implementation of GitOps practices with tools like ArgoCD or Flux • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible and similar tools • Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines for streamlined, secure deployments • Partner with developers and QA to integrate DevOps practices early in the SDLC • Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies during all deployments • Build and manage Kubernetes clusters, container images, and related infrastructure • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and staging environments • Participate in architecture planning, capacity management, and deployment design • Mentor development teams on building scalable, cloud-ready applications Required Skills & Qualifications: • 4–5+ years of experience with Red Hat OpenShift, including Helm deployments and upgrades • Expertise in GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD, Flux, or similar • Proficient in source control platforms like GitLab; experience in Agile environments • Solid background in automation using Ansible • Strong experience with Kubernetes, containerization (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD workflows • In-depth knowledge of networking, security, and automated deployments • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Experience in regulated industries such as financial services • Exposure to monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack About Seneca Resources At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm—we’re a trusted partner in your career journey.
