Job Purpose
This position contributes to day to day operations of our ecommerce team, maintenance and
improvements of our main application, and executing changes and releases on our applications
and infrastructure β including test, stage and production environments. This will include sharing
the load on infrequent, but regular after hours work supporting the reliability and uptime of our
store.
Examples of day to day responsibilities being executed are helping merchandising with one-off
import issues of our EDI systems, fixing a stuck mview/indexer, importing a sanitized production
dump into our staging environment or debugging a faulty cart price rule in our store. There is an
endless supply of day to day tasks to help with, which is why weβre looking for someone with a
broad set of skills and in depth knowledge to solve problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
β’ Support merchandising and content team with day to day production issues.
β’ Execute manual maintenance tasks on test, staging and production environments.
β’ Document systems and the workflows around these systems.
β’ Quality assurance and user acceptance test all production releases.
β’ Contribute to both infrastructure and applications and the dependencies between them.
β’ Respond to critical system issues.
β’ APM monitoring for performance issues or bugs (datadog, new relic, blackfire, etc.)
β’ Understand business issues, create resolutions and work with the team to complete them.
β’ Production site reliability within both Magento and AWS contexts.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Experience with Magento at scale and being responsible for the availability and uptime of
an enterprise storefront.
3+ years of AWS experience β most importantly S3, IAM, EC2 and Code Pipeline.
5+ years of Linux experience β must be very comfortable scripting
2+ year(s) system administration experience with web applications built on Linux,
Apache or NGINX, MySQL & PHP.
Familiar with git version control, code repositories and team development processes.
Familiar with infrastructure and application security methodologies and concepts.
Experience with distributed systems.
Soft Skills
Goal driven and focused on the betterment and overall strategic picture of the
organization.
Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Humble and pleasant to work with on both a personal and professional level.
Clear communication both verbally and through text β documentation and slack, etc.
