About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Looker/Sigma Administrator with 2+ years of experience to will support the administration, optimization, and strategic implementation of the Looker and Sigma platforms, ensuring performance, governance, and alignment with enterprise BI goals. This role focuses on platform operations, system-level configuration, user access, governance, and supportβnot on report development or business visualization creation.
β’ Administer and optimize Looker and Sigma platforms for performance, security, and scalability.
β’ Manage access controls, user permissions, and governance models.
β’ Support platform incident, service, and change requests within defined SLAs.
β’ Collaborate with internal data and business teams to ensure BI infrastructure aligns with organizational goals.
β’ Recommend strategic improvements and document platform administration standards.
β’ Help define, develop, and document governance standards for each platform
Key Responsibilities
Looker Administration:
β’ Manage user roles, permissions, and folder-level access control.
β’ Configure and tune Looker settings for optimal system performance and security.
β’ Advise Developers on maintaining and refactoring core LookML models and explores to support performance and stability.
β’ Implement and monitor caching strategies and platform-level integrations (e.g., via APIs).
β’ Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure platform reliability.
β’ Enforce governance policies and contribute to Looker audit logging and usage tracking.
Sigma Administration:
β’ Administer user access, security settings, and workspace configurations.
β’ Monitor and optimize Sigmaβs backend performance (not layout or report content).
β’ Address platform performance concerns with large datasets through configuration and scaling practices.
β’ Support technical platform-related troubleshooting and escalate vendor issues where necessary.
General Administration:
β’ Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business teams to align BI platform capabilities with data strategy.
β’ Work and resolve all incidents, service, and change requests within defined SLAs.
β’ Follow change management processes, including approvals and documentation.
β’ Provide technical documentation and create reusable governance templates (e.g., permission templates, folder structures, naming conventions).
β’ Help define, develop, and document governance standards for Looker and Sigma platforms, including naming conventions, folder structures, access models, usage monitoring, and lifecycle management.
β’ Stay informed about platform updates and propose relevant enhancements.
Requirements of the Work
β’ Bachelorβs degree in information science, Computer Science, Data Management, or related field preferred or commensurate professional experience.
β’ 2-3 years of solid hands-on experience with visualization tools, specifically Looker and Sigma
β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team player mindset and willingness to contribute actively to team objectives.
β’ Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
β’ Proven experience in data governance and data management best practices, with a focus on BI tools.
β’ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess platform performance metrics and make data driven recommendations.
β’ Experience with API integrations and data pipeline management, particularly in relation to Looker and Sigma platforms.
β’ Ability to create technical documentation that is clear and accessible for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
β’ Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in iterative project environments.
β’ Experience in conducting training sessions or workshops to educate users on BI tools and governance practices.
β’ Knowledge of cloud-based data storage solutions and their integration with Looker and Sigma platforms.
β’ Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
β’ Proficiency in SQL and understanding of data modeling principles related to BI tools.
β’ Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest BI trends and technologies.
β’ Ability to think outside the box and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
