Role description
We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning solutions in production environments. This role focuses on biomedical time-series data and small dataset challenges, requiring strong statistical foundations and hands-on engineering expertise. The ideal candidate combines research-level rigor with production-level discipline to deliver robust, scalable solutions. This will be fully remote for the first 6 months of the contract, and then will require to be onsite in California upon a permanent offer.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead ETL processes, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and feature engineering initiatives across complex datasets
• Design, prototype, and implement machine learning algorithms with a focus on biomedical time-series data and small dataset constraints
• Develop practical and reliable solutions for:
• Classification
• Anomaly detection
• Regression
• Predictive modeling
• Build, test, and maintain production-grade Python code following industry best practices for:
• Version control
• Automated testing
• Documentation
• Design, test, and deploy machine learning models into embedded and cloud-based production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, clinical, and research) to translate algorithmic innovations into rigorously validated solutions
• Clearly communicate methodologies, experimental results, and technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
• Senior-level experience designing, testing, and deploying machine learning algorithms in production environments
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Strong foundation in:
• Probability and statistics
• Linear algebra
• Optimization
• Classical machine learning techniques
• Modern machine learning approaches
• Expert-level proficiency in Python
• Experience with CI/CD platforms and development tools such as Git, Jira, and Bitbucket
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
