Role description
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our StudioLAB team - an innovation-focused group that shapes the next generation of creative and production technology across. 12-month assignment with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. In this role, you'll directly drive innovation across our cinematic pipelines and theatrical experiences, applying cutting-edge ML techniques to solve unique creative challenges that impact globally recognized entertainment products. This individual contributor position offers a rare blend of technical ML work with creative applications, allowing you to see your solutions come to life in major films and experiences. Primary Responsibilities β€’ Machine Learning Development: β€’ Design, develop, debug, and deploy new applications of machine learning using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. β€’ Implement ML models for diverse use cases, including computer vision, generative AI, and optimization problems. β€’ Participate in the full ML lifecycle from data preparation to model deployment and monitoring. β€’ Research & Innovation: β€’ Test and benchmark academic papers, ML applications, and tools to identify cutting-edge approaches. β€’ Stay current with ML research trends and evaluate their potential application to studio needs. β€’ Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and potentially external publications. β€’ Collaboration & Technology Transfer: β€’ Guide technology transfer both to and from external teams and research partners. β€’ Work closely with our partners across the organization to understand and address their technical needs. β€’ Communicate complex ML concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. β€’ Engineering & Implementation: β€’ Maintain high code quality standards with proper testing, documentation, and version control. β€’ Optimize ML models for production environments. β€’ Contribute to our ML infrastructure and tooling. Basic Qualifications β€’ Strong software engineering experience in Python (2+ years); C++ experience is a plus. β€’ Experience with major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.). β€’ Solid understanding of the foundations of ML techniques, including linear algebra and statistics. β€’ Knowledge of deep learning algorithm development and experimentation. β€’ Proficiency with Git version control and Unix/Linux environments. β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience deploying ML in a large-scale, distributed environment. β€’ Familiarity with Docker or other containerization systems. β€’ Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). β€’ Understanding of MLOps practices and tools. β€’ Background in areas such as computer vision, graphics, generative AI, machine learning, or simulation. β€’ Experience working in a production software development environment with automated testing and build tools. β€’ Prior work in entertainment, media, or creative industries. Required Education β€’ Master's degree or PhD in computer science or related.
