Position: Computer Science PhD – AI Research Contributor
Type: Hourly Contract (Remote)
Compensation: $60–$70/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 15–20 hrs/week for 2–3 months (extension possible)
Requirements
• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
• Deep expertise in core areas such as algorithms, systems, machine learning, or data science
• High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Access to a desktop or laptop computer (no Chromebooks)
Role
• Design high-quality, domain-specific problems to support training and evaluation of cutting-edge large language models (LLMs)
• Review, refine, and validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, complexity, and conceptual soundness
• Apply your expertise to ensure educational depth and technical rigor in content creation
• Collaborate with Mercor coordinators and AI lab leads on prompt design and model evaluation
• Work independently and asynchronously on a flexible schedule
