Role description
Open Metadata Expert An Open Metadata expert will help Client manage and leverage their data effectively by ensuring proper metadata is created, maintained, and utilized across various systems. They work with data teams and stakeholders to establish metadata standards, improve data discovery, data lineage, data quality, and enhance data governance practices using Open Metadata solutions. In essence, an Open Metadata Expert acts as a bridge between technical and business teams, ensuring that data is well-understood, easily discoverable, and governed effectively, ultimately contributing to better data-driven decision-making for POC and other project work. Key Responsibilities of an Open Metadata Expert: Metadata Strategy and Implementation: Develop and implement metadata management strategies, including defining metadata standards, naming conventions, and business definitions in line with organizational policies. Metadata Creation and Enrichment: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of metadata across multiple platforms and systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Data Discovery and Governance: Facilitate data discovery by improving metadata quality and consistency, and support data governance initiatives through metadata management. Data Lineage and Impact Analysis: Assist in defining and managing data lineage, identifying relationships between data elements across systems, and supporting impact analysis. Training and Support: Provide training and support to teams on metadata tools and best practices, promoting a data-centric culture within the organization. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with data owners, stewards, architects, and technology teams to ensure alignment on metadata management practices and drive data stewardship. Tooling and Technology: Utilizes and potentially contributes to OpenMetadata metadata management platform, integrating them with various data tools and technologies like Airflow, Snowflake, and others. Specific Tasks May Include: β€’ Managing metadata repositories or databases, data models. β€’ Enhancing existing metadata to improve accuracy, completeness, and usefulness. β€’ Adding and optimizing keywords, correcting errors, and linking related items. β€’ Ensuring the quality and integrity of metadata through validation and consistency checks. β€’ Documenting metadata standards, policies, and procedures. β€’ Participating in data quality initiatives and identifying metadata inconsistencies. β€’ Developing reports and dashboards on data governance activities. β€’ Integrating applications or systems. β€’ Use of Open Metadata / Collate AI Platform β€’ Data quality β€’ Data observability β€’ Data governance
