Anticipated Contract End Date/Length: December 31, 2026, with potential to extend
Work Set Up: Hybrid (3 days onsite in the Sheffield office). Must be eligible for BPSS clearance.
Our client in the IT Services 7 Consulting industry is looking for an OpenShift Senior Engineer to join their Sheffield team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing OpenShift environments to host workloads migrated from VMware, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across the platform. This is a hybrid role with 60% office and 40% home working, and 3 days onsite in Sheffield are mandatory.
What you will do:
β’ Design and build OpenShift cluster architectures to support VMware workload migration.
β’ Perform cluster installation, upgrades, and configuration to ensure stability and scalability.
β’ Integrate OpenShift with enterprise systems, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
β’ Implement networking components including CNI plugins, ingress controllers, and load balancers.
β’ Configure and manage storage integration for persistent workloads.
β’ Develop automation scripts and templates for cluster provisioning and lifecycle management.
β’ Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards across all environments.
β’ Monitor cluster health and performance, applying proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
β’ Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver optimized solutions.
β’ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications
β’ Strong hands-on experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes engineering, including cluster installation and upgrades.
β’ Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
β’ Knowledge of networking concepts (CNI, ingress, load balancers) and storage integration.
β’ Experience with containerization technologies and orchestration best practices.
β’ Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Understanding of security and compliance best practices for container platforms.
β’ Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
