Role description
We’re hiring a Technical Business Analyst to support business‑wide change across a specialist mortgage lender. You will bridge business objectives with technology outcomes - producing clear, testable requirements, interpreting complex data reports, analysing and improving processes, and ensuring solutions meet regulatory and security standards. The role is non‑configuration (no rules/catalogue configuration) but requires strong technical analysis, documentation, and delivery support. Key responsibilities include: Requirements & Analysis • Elicit, structure, and document functional and non‑functional requirements (NFRs) with full traceability. • Translate business outcomes into technical specifications, use cases, and acceptance criteria. Data Interpretation & Insight • Analyse and interpret complex data/MI reports and system outputs to surface trends, risks, and opportunities. • Validate data assumptions; support decision‑making with concise, evidence‑based findings. Technical Process & Integration Mapping • Create technical artefacts: BPMN process maps, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams, data flow diagrams, and interface contracts. • Perform system & integration analysis across mortgage platforms, CRM, finance, and third‑party services; support API/data mapping and data quality validation. Testing & Quality Assurance • Define test objectives and acceptance criteria; support UAT, regression, and readiness checks. • Manage defects and issues through to resolution with clear impact statements. Process Improvement & Change • Analyse business and technical processes across departments; lead ad‑hoc process reviews and improvement initiatives. • Document “as‑is/to‑be” processes, controls, and operating procedures; measure benefits and embed continuous improvement. Governance, Risk & Compliance • Ensure solutions align with FCA expectations, Consumer Duty, COCON/FIT, and internal security/data governance standards. • Prepare audit‑ready artefacts (decision logs, requirements packs, test evidence, release notes). Stakeholder Engagement • Facilitate workshops and structured interviews; reconcile competing needs and document decisions. • Communicate complex technical detail in clear business language. What we’re looking for Skills and Competencies Essential • Mortgage lending experience with strong understanding of: origination workflows, underwriting, broker journeys, ESIS/KFI, affordability, offer/completion, and servicing. • Proven technical BA background: requirements engineering, system analysis, data modelling, and technical documentation. • Demonstrable ability to interpret complex data reports and present actionable insights. • Familiarity with integration concepts (APIs, data mapping, middleware) and data quality controls. • Competence in process modelling (BPMN/UML) and creation of robust delivery artefacts (BRDs/FRDs, data dictionaries, interface specs).
