Position: Senior OpenText Documentum Developer / ECM Engineer
Location: Reston, VA/Plano, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: 07 Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior OpenText Documentum Developer / ECM Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise content management (ECM), Documentum platform architecture, REST API development, Java/Python engineering, and AWS cloud technologies.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience in designing, developing, upgrading, migrating, and supporting OpenText Documentum applications, while also contributing to modern API integrations and cloud-based deployments. This role requires strong technical leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional Agile teams.
Key Responsibilities:
OpenText Documentum / ECM
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support OpenText Documentum applications and enterprise content management solutions
• Work extensively with:
• Content Server, D2 Config, D2 Classic, D2 Smart View, Brava, CTS, xPlore, DFC Client
• Manage Documentum architecture, object models, workflows, and security models
• Lead or support platform upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization initiatives
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure platform stability
API & Backend Development
• Design and implement RESTful APIs using Spring Framework
• Build integrations for Documentum and other ECM platforms
• Develop reusable services and scalable backend components
• Support API security, versioning, and performance tuning
Programming & Engineering
• Develop enterprise applications using Java and Python
• Apply software design patterns, architecture best practices, and coding standards
• Work with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, IntelliJ, Tomcat/J2EE, and relational databases
• Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality development practices
AWS Cloud & Deployment
• Support applications deployed on AWS services including:
• EC2, ECS, RDS, ALB, SSM, SQS, SNS, Lambda, AWS SDK
• Troubleshoot deployment issues, infrastructure configurations, and application logs
• Review IAM/security policies, networking rules, and cloud monitoring dashboards
• Support CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines
Software Development Best Practices
• Contribute to:
• Unit testing
• Code coverage improvements
• Deployment automation
• Vulnerability remediation
• Application monitoring and alerting
• Follow secure coding and enterprise SDLC best practices
Agile & Collaboration
• Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies
• Sprint planning
• Backlog refinement
• Daily stand-ups
• Sprint retrospectives
• Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, DevOps, and business stakeholders
• Clearly communicate technical solutions and project risks
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with OpenText Documentum / ECM solutions
• 2+ years of experience building REST APIs using Spring Framework
• 5+ years of experience with Java and Python
• 3+ years of AWS cloud experience
• Strong knowledge of Documentum architecture, security, and object model
• Experience with platform upgrades and migrations
• Expertise in Git, Jenkins, Jira, IntelliJ, Tomcat/J2EE, and SQL databases
