Title: Operational Database Specialist/General Engineer Location: Silver Spring, MD - Hybrid role Min Education Requirement and Experience: Associate or Bachelor''s Degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience Clearance: Clearable at the Public Trust Level About The Opportunity Inalab has an immediate opening for a Operational Database Specialist/General Engineer to support NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination (W/DISS) under the System Engineering and Analysis Support Services Contract. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) consecutive years of experience directly integrating and managing complex multi-variant databases. Essential Responsibilities: β€’ Perform Database tasks on the NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS), International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS), Emergency Manager’s Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) – Legacy (HCL). β€’ Develop, maintain access and correct databases. β€’ Perform accurate database entries, corrections, and use in mapping efforts for NWR sites and charts. β€’ Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all DST tasking and meeting performance objectives. β€’ Provide weekly feedback to the Team Lead and Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks noting any schedule or deliverable variances. β€’ Provide articulate, well written responses, tailored to the intended audience to include responses to public inquires, Standard Operating Procedures, documentation to accompany detailed reports, and other ad hoc documentation as requested. β€’ Make minor additions (add text) to the website. Qualifications: β€’ Excellent written and verbal English communication at levels from novice to expert. β€’ 4-year degree in Engineering (preferred) β€’ 5-7 years of experience in General Engineering β€’ Ability to function well as part of a team Experienced with Microsoft Excel: β€’ Pivot tables β€’ Lookup tables β€’ Selection (dropdown) lists β€’ Ability to manipulate and export data Experienced with Microsoft Access β€’ Develop and maintain relational tables β€’ Lookup tables β€’ Develop complex queries from multiple tables β€’ Normalize data to improve efficiency β€’ Scripting to create queries to update data and generate reports Desired Experience: β€’ Scripting (Python, Perl) β€’ Functional knowledge of HTML, Javascript β€’ Experience with GIS
