Primary Job Title: Operations Data Analyst Alternate/Related Job Titles: Data Analytics Specialist - Utilities Business Intelligence Analyst Operational Reporting Analyst Data Visualization Analyst Utility Operations Analyst Location: Oakland, CAOnsite Flexibility: Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite in OGO office; option to work from home 1-2 days/week Contract Details: • Position Type: Contract • Contract Duration: 6 months • Start: August 12, 2025 • End: February 13, 2026 • Pay Rate: $75-$80/hr Job Summary: The Operations Data Analyst will lead complex data analysis projects from inception to presentation, supporting operational and strategic decision-making for a leading natural gas and electric energy company. The role involves managing multi-source data integration, developing automated reporting processes, and delivering actionable insights that enhance utility operations and asset planning.Key Responsibilities: • Manage complex data analysis projects, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery. • Design and execute data analyses to meet business objectives; prepare clear, concise findings for diverse audiences. • Develop automated data processes for reporting and delivery, ensuring data accuracy and quality. • Extract, clean, and integrate data from SAP, Foundry, GIS, Copperleaf, and other systems. • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify challenges and deliver data-driven solutions. • Monitor KPIs and recommend operational improvements. • Respond to ad hoc data requests and present findings in actionable formats. • Ensure data governance, integrity, and best practices in data management. Required Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience. • 6+ years of related work experience. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, VBA). • Proficiency in SQL with Oracle or Business Objects. • Strong programming skills (e.g., base-SAS, Visual Basic, Perl, C). • Strong project management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. Nice-to-Have Experience: • Master’s degree in a related field. • Familiarity with utility operations. • Advanced skills in visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau). Required Skills: • Data integration and cleaning from multiple enterprise systems. • Automated reporting and dashboard creation. • Stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration. Preferred Skills: • Data governance and quality assurance best practices. • KPI monitoring and operational analysis. • Strong influence and communication skills with senior leadership. Additional Skills: • Experience with GIS and asset planning systems. • Familiarity with SAP Financials and Work Management modules. • Ability to work in a hybrid schedule with on-site technology setup.
